Everything You Need to Know About CEREC

CEREC Dentist Office

When you think of the dentist you probably associate it with hygiene only related dental work such as cleanings and cavities. But did you know that dentistry also includes high-tech work? One of the less commonly known services we provide at Single Visit Dentistry is Computer Diagnostic and Treatment Technologies, otherwise known as CEREC. CEREC is a service that we recommend to anyone who needs a little tooth repair. The best part about the tooth repair is that the modern-day technology we offer can repair the tooth as good as new. Not only will your newly fixed tooth be able to match the color of your other teeth, but it also will be able to be repaired in one dental appointment. Tooth repairs have truly never been easier and quicker. Whether you have a minor or major chip, our professionals can fix you right up. Gone are the days of having to live with a chipped tooth or replace it with something metal. With the help of Single Visit Dentistry, you can get your smile back.

How Does CEREC Work?

You may be thinking that this sounds great but are unsure of how exactly it works. Trust us when we say it sounds way techier than it is. CEREC uses Computer-Aided Design, CAD, and Computer-Aided Manufacturing, CAM, to fix your broken tooth. It works by utilizing a camera to take a photo of the broken tooth, then displaying the photo of the tooth on the computer screen. This screen will allow the dentist to take a look at all of the nitty-gritty details we would otherwise be unable to see. After examining the broken tooth for all of the details, we will then be able to design the restored tooth. This technology allows us to design the new addition to the tooth as close to what the tooth looked like before it was damaged, making it so it matches with all of the other teeth. After this step is done we will have the tooth made for you while you wait. After the newly made tooth is finished we will be able to bond it to what is left of the old tooth. After this is done you can smile as if nothing ever happened. It’s as simple as that.

What are the Benefits to CEREC?

This process is perfect for those who are worried about their brand new tooth standing out from the rest. With CEREC no one will even notice that part of your tooth was restored, it will look completely natural. Before CEREC was invented people had to choose between silver, gold, or discolored looking teeth. This would make hiding the new tooth difficult and made some feel self-conscious over there smiles. This does not need to be the case anymore. This kind of restoration also functions as a normal tooth would. The filling is plaque resistant and is compatible with the tissue in the mouth, making it near identical to the appearance and function of a normal tooth. The best part too, is that the process from start to finish only takes about an hour, making it an easy appointment to add to your busy schedule. This is great for those who do not want to come back for a second appointment. Traditionally, the first appointment for tooth restoration is where the dentists will take an impression and send that to the lab for the new tooth to be made. Then a second appointment will be used to put the tooth in. This is not the case anymore with CEREC.
